IRCTC Ticket Not Showing in Booked History? Here's Why
Paid for a ticket but it's missing from IRCTC Booked Ticket History? Here's why a ticket may not show, where to find it, and how to recover the details.

You were charged, you think the ticket booked — but it is not showing in IRCTC Booked Ticket History. Before you panic or rebook, here is why a ticket goes missing from the list and how to find it.
First, Check Whether It Actually Booked
A missing ticket usually means one of two things: it didn't book (payment failed/pending), or it did book but you are looking in the wrong place. Rule out the first:
- Open My Bookings → Failed Transaction History — if the attempt is there, the ticket was not created and any debited money is auto-refunded.
- If it is stuck mid-way, see payment pending / under process and payment initiated but ticket not booked.
Why a Booked Ticket May Not Show
If money was taken and no failed entry exists, the ticket likely did book but isn't visible because of:
- Wrong date filter. Booked Ticket History defaults to a recent window — widen the date range to include your booking date.
- Logged into the wrong account. If you booked as a guest, via an agent, or on a different IRCTC user ID, it won't appear under this login.
- App cache / sync lag. The mobile app can lag; refresh, pull-to-update, or open the IRCTC website instead.
- Booked but not yet synced right after a high-traffic Tatkal window — give it a few minutes.
How to Recover the Ticket Details
- Check your SMS and email. A successful booking sends a PNR by SMS to the registered mobile and an e-ticket to your email — the fastest proof it booked.
- Use the PNR on our PNR status tool to pull up the full journey, coach and berth instantly.
- IRCTC → Booked Ticket History with the correct date range and account will then show it too.
If after all this there is no PNR, no email, and a failed/empty history, the booking did not go through — the money (if debited) is refunded automatically, and you can safely rebook, as explained in payment failed: should you book again.
Bottom line: a ticket missing from Booked History is usually a wrong date filter, wrong account, or app lag — check your SMS/email for the PNR first; if there is a failed entry and no PNR, it never booked and the amount is auto-refunded.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my booked ticket not showing in IRCTC history?
Most often the date filter is too narrow, you're logged into a different account, or the app hasn't synced. Widen the date range, refresh, and check the website. If there's a failed entry instead, the ticket never booked.
How do I find my ticket if it's not in Booked History?
Check the SMS and email sent to your registered contact — a successful booking includes a PNR and e-ticket. Enter that PNR on a PNR status tool to pull up the full details.
I was charged but there's no ticket and no PNR — what now?
The booking likely failed despite the debit. Look in Failed Transaction History; IRCTC auto-refunds a failed debit in about 3–7 working days, and you can safely rebook the journey.
Does a successful IRCTC booking always send an SMS?
Yes. A confirmed booking sends the PNR by SMS to your registered mobile and the e-ticket to your email. No PNR message usually means the booking didn't complete.
